I'd pair this book with Enchanted Frost for a fresh snow and light berries vibe~
Leading up to the upcoming Winter Olympics and figure skater Alysa Liu coming out of retirement on HER TERMS...it just feels like this book is exactly what we needed right when we needed it.
I come from a figure skating background and was super excited to receive this as an ARC from NetGalley (thank you!)
Quinn is coming back to the Olympics with a small tv crew following her. The interviewer for this piece is Bennett, an old flame that Quinn hasn't seen the last Olympics.
It was cute to see them fall for one another and learn over time why they went their separate ways. The right person at the wrong time, maybe?
This is a book where I think it would translate REALLY WELL to screen. Schade does an incredible job detailing Quinn's performances and I could so easily understand and visualize.
I LOVED how this book touched on mental and physical health in sports, especially one as strenuous as figure skating. At the same time, I was super caught off guard that the author used a mental illness/disorder to describe the weather...twice. It bothered me the first time. The second time just irked me. Calling weather bi-polar in 2025, to me, is a huge oversight, especially in a novel where the characters have multiple open conversations about their struggles with mental health.
Overall I had a LOT of fun reading this and have not stopped thinking about Quinn's character every time I see the iconic figure skating trio on social media as of late
